微软针对膝上型电脑开发的Data Encryption Toolkit for Mobile PCs正在准备进入Alpha阶段,目前接受电子邮件测试申请.数量非常少,不过邀请信中还有一些关于软件的功能信息,各位可以一看.Hello,
The Data Encryption Toolkit for
Mobile PCs project (formerly known as the Laptop Data Protection
project) is nearing its alpha review. We plan to deliver four documents
and one tool for the alpha:
The Executive Overview - a short
document that describes the problem and solution in business terms.
Intended for business and technical management.
The Security
Analysis - an in-depth review of the security options for protecting
data on client PCs. The document discusses Encrypting File System and
BitLockerT Drive Encryption, and describes the risks that are addressed
as well as those that are not addressed by each of these technologies.
The Security Analysis helps you decide what data encryption approach is
appropriate for your organization.
The Planning and Implementation
Guide - This guide describes in detail how to enable PC data encryption
in your organization, including planning, configuration, and
operations. This guide forms the bulk of the guidance we are creating.
The
Folder Scanning and Encryption Tool (FSET) - The FSET is a centrally
managed tool that can be installed on your organization's PCs to help
ensure that the folders containing confidential data on those PCs are
appropriately protected.
The Folder Scanning and Encryption Tool
Administrator's Guide - This guide describes how to install, configure,
and operate the FSET in your environment.
We are looking for a
few alpha testers who are willing to work closely with the Microsoft
project team to help us ensure that what the Data Encryption Toolkit
meets your needs. To be an alpha tester, you must:
Review the documents and provide feedback.
Install and configure the tool and provide feedback.
Participate in weekly conference calls with the project team.
The
alpha review will start at the beginning of January and will run for
about five weeks. We anticipate that participation in the alpha will
take approximately 3 to 5 hours per week during the alpha review
period.
You might ask yourself why you should bother. The main
reason is that you will be able to help shape the deliverables that we
eventually release. In addition, you will have access to some of the
really smart people at Microsoft who are thinking about data encryption
and other security technologies. Finally, alpha participants will each
receive a small gift to show our appreciation for their help.
If you are interested in participating, please e-mail ######@microsoft.com. Include the following information in your message:
Name
E-mail address
Organization name
Organization industry
Organization size (# of employees)
Country (for scheduling)
Primary operating system

We look forward to hearing from you.
Thanks,
Bill Canning
