Dear Team,
No doubt some of you have seen some of the reports in the press regarding transshipment. I wanted to make sure that all of you were not distracted by this coverage and share with my point of view.
Nokia China is committed to maintaining fair, equitable, and legal business practices with our partners in China and we reject the allegations made by this small group of protesters.
We have responded in the press - rejecting these allegations. Nokia strictly adheres to all Chinese business laws and regulations.
These 'protesters' represent a small group of 5 independent wholesalers who have no direct business relationship with Nokia.
As many of you know, on Tuesday this week, Nokia hosted over 200 of Nokia's authorized dealers and distributors from 29 provinces at a dealer conference here in Beijing.
We attach great importance to the close partnerships we maintain with our dealers. I believe that this week's conference will promote even better communication between Nokia and our dealers, protect the healthy development of the whole industry, and ultimately ensure the interests of end users.
We have had many of our partners come out and support our position. Indeed, Nokia's direct channel partners demand and support sound channel management practices because this means that they can operate in a healthy and sustainable market environment.
A healthy and orderly industry ecosystem is crucial to the sustainable development of any industry. We are committed to working hand-in-hand with our authorized dealers to develop the mobile phone market which is healthy and abides by contractual arrangements and Chinese laws.
Effective channel management is one of the main reasons behind Nokia’s success in China and we will continue to focus on developing win-win partnerships with our channels which are fair and equitable.
