Firefox 15 Beta 开始支持 .opus 开放音频格式。实际上这也是为 WebRTC 铺路，因为Mozilla将基于WebRTC标准实现视频聊天功能，主要应用于FirefoxOS，向HTML5再进一步。Opus是一个完全免费的音频格式，这是由 IETF 刚出台的标准，其实就是Skype的 SILK 和XVID 的 CELT 技术的混合体。

相比MP3、OGG、AAC编码格式有更好的压缩比；

对人声、语音、音乐都有恨强的优化；

支持动态可调码率、音频带宽和编码延迟，低延迟的高质量；

支持实时和预先录制；

Frame sizes from 2.5 ms to 60 ms
